Procedural question for future editorial events
[edit]Hello Tvpuppy, as we met on 2 instances before, would you mind if I ping you as a Wikimedian who could eventually help with language and comprehension questions when needed for DR or file descriptions? Your addition of information here about the short film award was really helpful. As I patrol new files every now and then, it's likely that I will get to encounter uploads from this geographical area in need of editorial refinements, having the option of asking you would be great. :-) Regards, Grand-Duc (talk) 20:25, 20 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Grand-Duc Sure, no problem. I will be glad to help. Tvpuppy (talk) 20:46, 20 January 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you already for your help. I'm very pleased to work with you! :-)) Grand-Duc (talk) 02:50, 21 January 2025 (UTC)
Image content question
[edit]Hello Tvpuppy, could you eventually tell me how old the temple depicted in this image is? That is relevant to gauge the age of the depicted art. Regards, Grand-Duc (talk) 03:53, 23 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Grand-Duc The temple 水牛厝玉皇宮 was built in 2013, based on the abstract of this paper (in Chinese) [1] and this news website (in Chinese) [2] stating the temple celebrated its 11th anniversary in 2024. Tvpuppy (talk) 04:33, 23 January 2025 (UTC)
- Sorry to bother you again: Whose portrait is in the frame in the background here? I tend to think that it could be an official and freely licensed work, but I'd like to confirm that. Regards, Grand-Duc (talk) 04:50, 23 January 2025 (UTC)
@Grand-Duc No problem. The portrait is actually a semi-3D sculpture with a glass frame around it and it depicts one of the Menshen (lit. door gods). I am not sure which "door god" is in the photo, as this one looks different to the usual "door gods" in other temples.Tvpuppy (talk) 05:22, 23 January 2025 (UTC)If I had to guess, the "door god" could be General Yue Fei, one of the most famous Chinese general, based on the fact that he has a helmet and a sword, but this depction is quite unique as usually he has a beard. Also, I doubt this art is offical work as usually the looks of "door gods" in temple are based on the artist's interpretation rather than a offical one.Tvpuppy (talk) 05:38, 23 January 2025 (UTC)- What? The framed content on the wall between the flags over the head of the third man from the left is a Menshen? I thought that it was a depiction of some then-current political leader or some party founder... Regards, Grand-Duc (talk) 06:19, 23 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Grand-Duc My apologies, sorry for the confusion. I thought you were talking about the original image of the temple. You were correct, the man was then-president Ma Ying-jeou and it was his offcial portrait seen here: File:中華民國第12、13任總統馬英九先生官方肖像照.jpg. Tvpuppy (talk) 06:28, 23 January 2025 (UTC)

[edit]Even images from films are here because Mexico's freedom of panorama allows it and they have not been deleted because it is not against the rules and those films are not in the public domain. Aurelio Sandoval (Mensajes aquí please) 14:09, 24 January 2025 (UTC)
- Hi Aurelio Sandoval, if you haven't seen it, I replied to you at the discussion over at the DR. Thanks. Tvpuppy (talk) 15:53, 24 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Aurelio Sandoval Hello. Can you cite or mention here what image files are you referring to? JWilz12345 (Talk|Contributions) 05:39, 3 February 2025 (UTC)

Details of this sculpture in Taiwan
[edit]Do you have any information about the year / authorship of this indoor sculpture? Regards, JWilz12345 (Talk|Contributions) 05:38, 3 February 2025 (UTC)
- @JWilz12345 I couldn't find the year and author for this sculpture, the only information I found is the statue was donated by local teachers and students to the library when it inaugurated in 1971, per this National Library website article. Tvpuppy (talk) 05:55, 3 February 2025 (UTC)
- Perhaps I'll leave it as it is for now. "Donation" – may had been made before that year. Thanks for the response. JWilz12345 (Talk|Contributions) 06:08, 3 February 2025 (UTC)
- Hello again. How about the two artworks in Fu Jen University station?
- Regards, JWilz12345 (Talk|Contributions) 01:33, 5 February 2025 (UTC)
- @JWilz12345 I tried but I couldn't find any info about those artworks. I doubt they are copyright-free anyway. Tvpuppy (talk) 05:42, 5 February 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for the reply. Will nominate these shortly afterward. JWilz12345 (Talk|Contributions) 06:09, 5 February 2025 (UTC)

- Hello again. How about the Guanyin statue at Category:Guanyin Coastal Recreation Area? The only sources I immediately searched online give an account that isn't relevant to its origins; it was heavily-damaged in a 2015 typhoon and was later demolished, prompting anger from many religious residents; the authorities then promised to erect a new statue of the same goddess, with insufficient funding as the mere obstacle to the rebuilding. JWilz12345 (Talk|Contributions) 07:13, 15 February 2025 (UTC)
- @JWilz12345 According to this news article in 2015 [3], it states the statue was erected 28 years ago, this means it is erected around 1987 to 1988. However, it only stated it was commissioned by the local township office (鄉公所), it didn’t state who the designer/creator was. Tvpuppy (talk) 07:44, 15 February 2025 (UTC)
- Hello again. Can you find info about the tiger sculptures under Category:National Chung Cheng University? Regards, JWilz12345 (Talk|Contributions) 14:15, 23 February 2025 (UTC)
- @JWilz12345 Hi, are you referring to the statue in File:嘉義縣民雄鄉 國立中正大學 - panoramio (26).jpg? The only useful info I found about it is from this 2012 blog: [4]. The content was from a 2011 news article that does not exist anymore. According to the article, the statue was part of a series of cat statues commissioned by the local township office (seen here [5]). They were placed along the “newly” completed cycle lane, which was completed back in 2011. So, the statues were most likely completed in 2011, along with the cycle lane. Tvpuppy (talk) 19:56, 23 February 2025 (UTC)
- Yes, those statues. I'll perhaps will nominate those images later. JWilz12345 (Talk|Contributions) 00:40, 24 February 2025 (UTC)
- Hello again, how about this sculpture? File:金雞報曉藝術像.jpg. Regards, JWilz12345 (Talk|Contributions) 09:11, 24 February 2025 (UTC)
- @JWilz12345 Hi, according to these websites [6], [7], the creator of the sculpture is Hsieh Tong-liang (謝棟樑), who is still alive. The locations mentioned are different because he made the same sculpture for multiple locations. Anyways, the sculpture in the image was created in 2001 (90th year of ROC), according to the text engraving below. Tvpuppy (talk) 13:42, 24 February 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks. Will nominate the image very soon. JWilz12345 (Talk|Contributions) 00:01, 25 February 2025 (UTC)

Need some help.
[edit]@Tvpuppy: Hi. I've a topic at the village pump: About replacing File:75B.jpg with File:Bandera de la Provincia de Córdoba.svg. I'd like you to voice your opinion about this. - Hi, I saw your conversation over at the village pump. For your IP ban, you mentioned you messaged Platonides, so I think it is better to wait for them to reply even though it might take a while. And for the images, I think Jmabel’s suggestion might be the best solution to this. Tvpuppy (talk) 09:39, 9 February 2025 (UTC)
- Hi, I noticed that you are indefinitely banned for harassing another user. That was unfortunate, but I do think you were given enough chances beforehand to know not to do it. Tvpuppy (talk) 06:12, 23 February 2025 (UTC)
